A superb guide - Rated This guide follows the same format as the companion Garden Birds of Britain & Europe, but is altogether the better purchase. It represents better value and illustrates three times the number of species - the only penalty - it weighs slightly more. Enclosed in a plastic slip-on cover for protection, it uses excellent quality photos to aid identification, plus a brief description, and note on habitat, food and breeding. Last year I had a clear view of an unknown species on waste ground. None of my bird books owned at the time helped me to identify it. Months of frustration passed, until I found this guide. I bought it because we already have the excellent Garden Birds version, and could see that this was even better. A thorough search through the illustrations revealed a clear photo of a Wheatear - identification solved as last.
