For someone who hadn't finished a book in years I was amazed at just how quickly I got hooked on this booked and loved every page. I even shed a tear along the way.
Great book! - Rated
Not the type of book I normally read, but still found it very enjoyeable. The set is 19th century England is superbly described - its class society with its rich sides and its poor ones as well, the very precarious courtship relations and the hypocrisies of the society. The story is told as a first person story, with a very engaging character, and the role of Edgard Allan Poe goes through greatly: the story is full of surprises and turns, and kept me reading without stop!

labour of love - Rated
I just finnished American Boy and I am more than happy to give it back to its owner. I would consider this a rather over rated book, however I did not give up on it and towards the end of the novel I became quite gripped (possibly because I was nearing the end). I would recomend this book to those who enjoy victorian stories, as there are a few twists and turns, and no doubt the BBC will create it into a fabulous period drama in the near future.
Captivating - Rated
This was such a beautifully constructed book, which I found immensely enjoyable. A truly elegant whodunit that was a pleasure to read. I would highly recommend it to those who favour historical mysteries. Definitely worthy of being amongst one of my all time favourite reads.
