Customer Reviews

Hmmm - Rated 1/5
I bought this book because of the reviews on here so I feel it is important to write my own. I found this book to be overly simplistic and contrived. If you have read self help books it will have nothing new to offer you. I couldn't get through more than half which is very unusual for me.

Entirely unbelievable. - Rated 1/5
Not only is this book badly written, it is also entirely unbelievable!

As if a Californian lawyer would out up with the hundred and one inconveniences that you experience living in India! Please......

Yes, go ahead - buy this book: but only if yoy want to make some rich guy even richer than he is.

What a load of rubbish... - Rated 1/5
What a load of rubbish. The worst thing is that the author of this book, who advocates humility and spirituality above weklath creation, has created a hundred and one money-making spin-offs from this book with titles like 'Wisdom precepts from the Monk who sold his ferrai,' Life lessons from the monk who sold his ferrari,' etc, etc, etc.... What a grade-a hypocrite!

Don't waste your money - Rated 1/5
I have never written a review before but this book was so bad I felt I had to warn people not to buy it. It is so simplistic and badly written, conveying some basic concepts from various other sources such as meditation, positive thinking etc in the form of a "story". I found it quite patonising as if the author thought he was some great guru telling me his secrets when all he has done is badly copied ideas from other books. I couldn't recommend this to anyone other than perhaps for someone about 11-14 years. I was shocked by the likes of Paulo Coelho being quoted on the front and I can only assume he is published by the same publishing house and was misquoted. How on earth do books like this get printed?

Contrived and irritating. - Rated 2/5
This book is a fictional story that tries to convey a few simple lessons from 'New Age' thinking and Eastern philosophy. The basic messages are OK - nothing new - except Sharma tries to dress them up it in a Paulo Coelho style novel. It doesn't work and makes for a very contrived story. I got half way through and couldn't go on. Sharma may be a good 'life coach' but he is no writer. The story is completely unbelievable and badly written. Instead of telling you what he thinks are the essential ways to achieve success/happiness, he dresses it up in a ludicrous yet boring narrative. Buy a basic book on Buddhism and get some proper time-honoured wisdom, not this tripe.
