LOVED IT - Rated
this was my first book by freya north and i LOVED IT! i thought the story was thought out and not at all fluffy like others have said it is. this was very enjoyable so i found the three pervious novels Cat Fen & Pip even though i knew how they would end up it wasnt once ruined! so it goes to show its a continous story but there is no need to be put off if you havent read the pervious ones.you still know and care about them all.
unputdownable... - Rated
Freya North has once again produced a book that was simply unputdownable; the McCabe sisters, re-united this time, were still as loveable, quirky and addictive as the first time round, but this time they're more mature, and as they grow you grow with them, you really feel that you are the fourth sister...what I would really love, is to see the tales of the McCabe sisters on the big screen, how fab would that be?!
Excellent! - Rated
Having read Freya North's other books about the sisters, I thoroughly enjoyed this one with them all together. It was a really interesting window onto family life and, although less funny than her other books, this one was more poignant and well observed. I found myself identifying with bits of all the girls, but in particular with new mum Fen! Well written. Thoroughly recommend.
Gripping - Rated
I was so excited to see the McCabe sisters reunited for this new book from Ms North, having loved Pip, Cat and Fen individually in their own titles... when the girls mother unexpectantly turns up at their Uncle Djangos birthday party (having been on the missing list since running away with a cowboy from Denver when the girls were young), it sets off a series of revelations that turns the girls lives on their heads. Tackling the relationships between the girls themselves, their partners, their Uncle and their mother, this story really gets to grips with the precious issue of family and at times it really touched a nerve with me. It may not be as funny as some of her previous books, but its just as gripping and keeps you glued till you turn the final page.
a bit depressing! - Rated
I've read all Freya North's books leading up to this one so looked forward to reading Home Truths. It started off at a good pace but I began to lose interest about halfway through, although it did pick up again towards the end. However, I read for entertainment and (call me shallow if you want!) I don't like being depressed while I read so it's not a book I'd recommend, especially if you haven't read the others.
