Big Derek fan - Rated 4/5
I was given is book for christmas 2006 and I had read it by Boxing day. It contains short ghost stories, nearly all have been visited by the Most Haunted or Ghost town team. A lovely stocking filler and a enjoyable read

A Throbbing Pinnacle of Pulsating Purple Prose - Rated 5/5
Our Degsie's most recent epistle to the Believers is a deeply penetrating search into Britain's most hidden places. When it comes to investigating the paranormal no one goes in harder (and more often) than Mr Derek Acorah. Nestling in the densely brisling thicket of parapsychological literature this book is a towering pinnacle of throbbing purple prose. Thrusting into the darkness of the unknown, again and again, Mr Acorah's slick explorations of the netherworlds lift the reader into an ectasy of understanding. As he binds and casts the willful demons to the outer reaches and sternly admonishes unwilling spirits to seek the light, your spirits will soar as a climax of enlightenment breaks upon the beaches of your soul!

This was good for me!

Same Book, Different Title!! - Rated 5/5
I am quite surprised to see this "new" book advertised. 'Haunted Britain & Ireland' is EXACTLY the same book as Derek's 'Haunted Britain' but with an extended title. Nothing new here, the book's back cover read up is even the same. If you already have 'Haunted Britain' don't buy this.

More than a little dissapointed - Rated 1/5
Well not much here. I do admit that this is a welcome break from the 'look at me, look how good i am' books that psychics tend to write but unfortuneatly this book is nothing more than a collection of phone calls to haunted locations without a visit from mr achorah. I visited one pub in Wales mentioned in the book and the landlandy said the research was nothing more than a phone call from a lady researching for this book, she even said it was though she had written the chapter. I need and expect more than this, more than I could get free from the internet when I buy a book. I'm sure mr. achorah or his ghost writer can do better. Let's hope so for the next installment.

A little disappointed - Rated 3/5
Having looked foreward to a new book by our Derek, I found this one rather disappointing.
It basically does what is says on the cover, introduces the reader to 100 of Britains scariest places and also contains helpul hints on ghost hunting. But it lacks a certain joi de vivre that his other biographical novels have in bucket loads. It's basically a history book, with a line for each location about what haunts where and why. Now as a sceptic I have to ask, why does a spiritualist medium feel the need to research the most haunted areas in Britain some of which he hasn't even visited. To be honest I would have preferred to read about places he has visited and what he picked up personally. As we know from previous novels, Derek has a wonderfully natural narrative.
All in all, interesting historically, but non challenging and rather safe. Theres not a lorra Derek in this book.
