D I Inch - Rated
You cant say this is like the prior 3 outings of Mr McBride. Its very rare
you turn the page and have to re-look at the character, and see what is going on...really is. Poor old Inch is all l can say, brilliance in the way he drove the incident, but l did'nt see that coming, not telling you anything !!!!
The murders just got more twisted my the page. I read in the afternoon, with my meal, but for the first time, l had to stop reading.
I expected Inch to drop of a coronary at any time. Steele and Inch have a love to hate relationship..mainly hate.
I'm not sure what's next, but as someone said the book will be in summer...l can smell it already.

Another great read from Stuart MacBride. It was almost enough to make me go vegetarian, but hey what you don't know, can't hurt you!
DI Steel is my favourite character, and I can certainly relate to her ongoing bra situation! She gets all the best lines.
It was sad in parts, gory and funny and I can't wait for the next installment.
I didn't guess who the killer was and that makes a change for me, so I will certainly recommend this. You could read it as a stand alone book, but I would recommend you start with his first.
Same old same old - Rated
Two reviewers of this book made the observation pertaining to `character development.' Having read the book, and I'll agree some pieces are stomach churningly good, but character development? Where? Whom?
Logan? Still joining the dots. Insch? Still eating sweets and threatening people. Steel? Smoking and not at home to Mr. Fcuk up. DC Rennie now full on in his role as the station joker. No, the characters are still doing exactly the things they have done in previous books.
Even the supporting roles haven't evolved. Miller is still a stereo-typical Weegie wide boy, Isobel the pathologist still has penis envy and a short fuse. And the DPF, Rachel, someone with a back story of romance for Logan, only gets the merest, briefest mention in passing in this book. Jackie's ABH at the end of Broken Skin almost gets consigned as an afterthought at the end here.
The usual array of `red shirts' get introduced early doors, and if you've read all of his books, you'll already know they are doomed to become victims.
A decent book, but please Stuart, let's turn one of your `stars' into a killer. Now that would be a twist.
An absolute corker!! - Rated
I loved this 4th novel from Mr Macbride - dark, scarey, gut churning and in places laugh out loud funny. I enjoyed this more than his last and cant wait for his next!!
Not as good as 1st 3 books ! - Rated
After a pedestrian start of the book it gradually got you by the horns sprinkled by a few red herrings (thinkings Faulds as a suspect ).A good read only to be let down by slow start and oh-so ending .It missed Jackie the Ballbreaker as she came near the end,Insch as bad as ever, not many sweets in this one and lastly Rennie a good foil for Lazerus Macrae. I hope the next one will be better.
