Good Book, shame that more is not said about the huge impact - Rated Good Book, well presented and tasty dishes to boot. My only gripe is that not much is said about the importance of nutritional supplements and how effective these can be when couple with extremely low carbohydrate diets. It's almost like the author doesn't quite go the distance, when she could and perhaps should. An excellent complement to this eating guide is the DVD lifestyle guide from Vision Health: Diabetes An Integrated Approach, available on Amazon. It really changed my life... Hearing patient stories where their diabetes was completed cleared up after following strict dietary/nutritional programs... hearing doctors with 35years + experience recounting their approaches and their enormous success rates. If you're interested in finding out a broad account of a complicated and debilitating ailment, please chcek it out. It covers a huge amount of information in an interesting and engaging manner. A wide of array of complementary, alternative, natural therapies are considered as are the conventional medical doctrines. Very helpful book - and full of encouragement, too. - Rated I always read Hiser's articles in Eating Well Magazine and she continues to be practical and educational in her book. She explains the "whys" of different aspects of Type 2 Diabetes and their affects. She includes the latest research and provides a do-able diet of real food. Even the recipies are great! an absolute bible to anyone with Type II diabetes - Rated As a nurse practitioner student, I will use this as recommended reading to all my Type II diabetics and to anyone genetically predisposed. My husband, who has a strong family history of diabetes, and my whole family have recently begun to follow the diet guidelines in this book. The recipes are wonderful and delicious. The added bonus to this book is that it is a must for those with heart disease. If the American public ate in the manner shown in this book, the incidence of heart disease and Type II diabetes would marketly decrease Ellen
