Book Details / Review - supplied by Amazon UK

Despite the submarine cover art and the rather awkward title, Ice Hunt is no by-the-numbers military thriller: rather, it's a full-blooded, multidimensional adventure story set in the frozen wilds of Alaska, both atop the ice and underneath it. And it's one heck of a fun ride. Matthew Pike is a Fish and Game Officer cataloguing bear populations in the remote Brooks Range--but he's also an ex-Green Beret, which comes in handy when trouble drops out of the sky in the form of a crashed bush plane, a cryptic survivor and some very nasty and well-equipped pursuers. Meanwhile, an American submarine stumbles on an abandoned research station buried under the Arctic ice cap, unleashing a race to conceal the horrors that took place there and to capture the priceless scientific secret still locked within.

James Rollins invokes the polar environment so vividly you can hear the wind shriek and feel the ice forming on your nose and the scientific and medical puzzles at the story's heart may remind you of Michael Crichton's best. The characters, while mostly familiar hero or villain types, are crisply drawn and in some cases quite sympathetic, but it's the nonstop action that carries you along. During several climactic chase scenes, you may find yourself laughing in pure delight--or gasping for breath--as Rollins keeps finding ways to ratchet up the tension one more notch. Ice Hunt is an escapist's delight. --Nicholas H. Allison, Amazon.com

james rollins better than dan brown? - Rated 5/5
By a mile! i got into rollins books via map of bones, and couldn't put it down, then i found sandstorm in an airport book shop and again couldn't put it down all holiday and as soon as i came back had to buy all his others off here, and they are all truly awesome, characters that you feel connected to, storylines that keep you turning the pages and with all good fiction books, the perfect line between fantasy and fact.
i'm just sad i've only got amazonia and the judas strain left to read, if anyone knows of any other authors that come close to rollins style, please let me know so i can give them a go.
Forget making the da vinci code and angels and demons into films, all of rollins books could and should become massive blockbuster movies

The Author's Books are Always Fast Moving - Rated 5/5
James Rollins was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1961. With his three brothers and three sisters, he was raised in the Midwest and rural Canada. He graduated with a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Missouri and went on to establish his own veterinary practice in Sacramento, California. His sense of adventure often takes him either underground or underwater.

This is the another action packed adventure from the author, whose books for me anyway are consistently good and always an enjoyable read. Long may he continue to write them for his growing number of fans. Some writers have an immediate impact and then die away. James Rollins has slowly built his reputation over a period of years.

Buried deep in the earth's polar ice cap - carved into a moving island of ice twice the size of the United States - is a secret place, the site of a remarkable abandoned experiment that could have frightening ramifications for the planet . . .

Let James Rollins take you to another place. - Rated 5/5
5 books down and 3 to go. Yet another great book, ideal for a holiday or just relaxing. This book just gets better like all his other books with an excellent storyline and plot devolopment. So just sit back and enjoy this page turner, and dont forget about work in the morning as this book kept me up until 2am before I realised the time!!!

another brick in the wall.......... - Rated 5/5
I came to James Rollins via the flu' , .Take one part "Ice Station Zebra", one part "The Thing", add a little "Creature from the Black Lagoon" a healthy sprinkling of science fiction and a pinch of science fact . Give it all a good mix ,sit back and enjoy!! Beats Matthew Reilly hands down .

Wow...... - Rated 5/5
What can I say - not too much - don't want to give the plot away - take my word for it you have just got to read this book. It keeps you up till all hours and keeps you on your toes as the action gets more thrilling with each turn of the page - Just remember to breathe!!!
