Not the best book for gluten-free breads! - Rated
This book is great, beautifully illustrated and with a great variety of mouthwatering recipes. Unfortunately, having read the reviews, I bought this book for the gluten-free chapter and was very disappointed - every single gluten-free recipe calls for a particular brand of gluten-free bread mix . I was hoping to learn how to make bread from gluten-free flours; I don't want shop-bought packet mixes full of additives. I'm afraid I've docked a single star for disappointing me in this respect! The book also has a dairy-free chapter and that looks more promising. Otherwise, for 'normal' bread, I would recommend it!

I inherited a Kenwood breadmaker with only a small selection of recipes and had difficulty getting consistent results. This book is brilliant: it has a fantastic range of recipes but more importantly it's full of practical hints about how to use bread machines and explains properly why things go wrong. The Kenwood handbook was rubbish by comparison. Her formulas really work, I'd recommend this to anyone who hasn't used a breadmaker before

I suppose having read the rave reviews, I expected too much from this book. It has some good recipes and the ones I used worked out well, but there are too many pages dedicated to gluten free breads with a dependence on a specific ingredient and no suggestions how you can convert this over to a 'normal' bread. These should have been reserved for a specialist book in my opinion, and more pages on dessert breads and other diverse sweet mixes. Worth buying as long as you don't expect too much or if you need gluten free or dairy free.

Good recipes, unbalanced sections. - Rated
A lot of the breads are excellent (6 grain especially, and the egg/mayonnaise), but so much of the book also given to gluten free breads - some of those recipes look lovely, but there's no way to determine how they would work with yeasts/regular flours. I've no interest (touch wood, currently)in a yeats/gluten free diet.

Having said that, once you've started using eggs to enrich your loaf, you might never stop.
Good results, well laid out and informative.

This bread book is a fantastic read for those in the bread industry and those at home woundering how people make bread using a bread making applicance. The Nut-Bread is superb and i recomend making it with the "Panasonic SD253" available fromall good amazons. Unfortunatly the other bread product section left lots to be desired.
