Great help for parents - Rated
Having already used Gina Ford's weaning guide and hardback recipe book to great extent, I wasn't sure how much additional information this would give, but I found it really helpful in terms of advice and principles, rather than specific recipes or timetables.
There is useful advice on subjects such as allergies, constipation, colic which whilst not useful to everyone, are a good reference point.
Receommended!
very useful - a real must - Rated
this book is very useful from weaning and beyond - a real must to have in the house.
A very helpful reference - Rated
The Contented Child's Food Bible is a very useful reference book to have to hand. It explains clearly what constitutes a portion of different types of food for children of different ages and offers guidance on how many portions of each type of food should be eaten daily (or the equivalent of daily averaged out over a week, depending on the food type). I have found it helpful in determining what and how much my child should be eating and when.
Who needs a infant dietician when you have this book! - Rated
I have had nutritional problems with my baby and this book has been more useful than a one on one appointment with a paediatric dietician. I view myself as fairly well informed on nutrition but I learned tips that I had never come across before in this book - especially advice for fussy eaters and pregnant women.
Really interesting - I'm impressed.
Wish I had this book from birth - Rated
This book is so informative with information on all the things that they taught you in school but you never really bothered with until you had a child. I wish I had picked it up sooner. I have been following Gina's books since the day I brought my son home and even though he is a great eater I do worry about composing meals that are balanced. The Food Bible has answered all of my questions and is now stored next to my cookbooks as a quick reference when I am doing the families weekly menu. For all the criticism that Gina receives, I do find that my son has naturally gravitated towards all of her routines and now that he is two, I use all of her books to get a quick idea as to when his naps will be changing and other routines to the day. the only thing I would disagree with in this book is the amount of food that she says a two year old eats. My son doubles it all and is only in the 23% of weight But, he is very active.
