Restores my faith a bit in chick lit - Rated
I've read some very samey Chick Lit books of late (yes I know they are all the same really!!) but this one was quite enjoyable.
I liked the characters, although the setting and the events throughout the book were completely improbable as usual.
There was plenty of short, easy to understand words and the style was unexciting, which is the reason we all read them, isn't it?
Good way to fill a few hours but no use at all if you want to learn anything or feel challenged by a book.
I remember reading an early Katie Fforde book and really enjoying it but this one felt a bit like the author had churned it out without too much thought and no research at all - reasonable read though!
entertaining - Rated
as usual katie fforde dishes up a interesting little tale. usual characters and a crumbly old house which brings everybody together.
Restoring Grace is a brilliant novel - Rated
This is my third Katie Fforde novel and the more I read, the more I want to read. This is a story about Grace; her husband leaves her and the future of her house, Luckenham House, is a doubt after dry-rot invades part of the house and the threats of her family. Then along comes Ellie who changes everything for Grace and there's a hope that one day, everything will be rosy. A really great novel fast paced and full of delightful characters. Katie Fforde is a great writer and I cannot wait to read more!
A delicious slow burn - Rated
I also found this book a slow starter and I'm not really into the restoration and art themes - but the central love stories really engaged me. I loved Flynn but it was Ran I found especially sexy. A lovely summer read...
Feel Good factor - Rated
A lovely story where you get to see the pains of a woman who has to battle with her family as well as her conscience. Ellie and Demi bring out the best friend in Grace but Flynn is the true masterpiece, who guides the story towards the love that Grace deserves. A bit of a slow starter but once going it didn't stop.
