Dido and a pink whale! - Rated From here on in, this series belongs to Dido Twite. There are few characters in fiction like this feisty, unputdownable, gutsy, pure-hearted young girl. Dickens could not have painted her more wonderfully. Her use of slang (Croopus!) and her ability to stick it out through thick and thin make her the perfect heroine. She has no airs or graces, but you know everyone around her can depend on her level head and her wilingness to take on anything and anyone that comes her way. The take on Moby Dick is hilarious, even if a lot of young readers may not get it. And when this is over, Dido comes back again and again. Fantastic! - Rated Joan Aiken has yet again managed to create another fantastic story in thisseries! Picking up Dido Twite's story after she disappeared towards theend of Black Hearts in Battersea, the book has another exciting andthrilling plot to get rid of the true English king.
