Not as good as I hoped! - Rated
This is the second book I have read by Katie Fforde and I didn't enjoy it half as much as the first. It starts off well and the descriptions of country life and farmers markets, as well as the adorable greyhound Caroline have quite a charm. The thing is, the story lacks momentum and there are endless descriptions of the main charachters DIY pursuits in far too much detail. There doesn't seem to be much direction until towards the end, which is hurried and disjointed. Its as if Ms Fforde didn't really know where she wanted the story to go herself, hence it drifting along then "bam" it ends!
In the beginning there was much potential for this book, but its a shame that it didn't quite develop as well as it could have.
Comfort book which was incredibly easy to read - Rated
I recently read another of Katie Fforde's book and felt that this book followed exactly the same formula. Although there is nothing wrong with that if you end up with a book that is as easy to read as this one.
I read it really quickly and enjoyed it but felt that as soon as I put it down that I would forget about it immediately.
From the first chapter I knew precisely how it would end which gives me a feeling of familiarity which is always a nice experience with a book.
I would be very careful who I recommended this book to as I would have to be sure that they also enjoyed predictable stories!
I came away from the book feeling that Katie Fforde could do so much better than churning out the same story and look forward to her stretching her writing style a bit more.
Two and a Half Stars - Rated
I normally love Katie Fforde books and have read her entire back catalogue, however Practically Perfect was very disappointing for me. I actually put it down the first time I started to read it and had to restart it some months later. The story did not draw me in the way her others have (which I can easily re-read over and over again). Fingers crossed that her next book is back to her usual top form.
Just awful! - Rated
Rarely do I not finish a book, but this one stumped me. The research was poor and the characters boring beyond belief. People "twinkled" at each other as characterisation and the very thin storyline of an interior designer renovating a cottage was laughable to anyone who actually does that kind of work. If you don't do your research your reader will not believe anything you write so make an effort to learn about something before you hang a plot on it.

This is the first book i have read by Katie Fford, and it wont be the last. Once i started reading i couldn't put the book down. I found myself wanting a greyhound, and wishing i could meet a guy like Rob..... Katie is a brilliant writer and i cant wait to meet some more of her characters.
