One of the worst books I have picked up - Rated I do not usually fill these feedback forms in, but this book is so poor that I feel compelled to write, in the hope of saving other readers the misery of it. I have read all the previous novels and it is time that Alexander Kent realised that the story line has run its course. At the best it is rehashing the same story with a new character, at the worst it is pure soap. Don't waste money on it. Heart of Oak - Rated After such a long wait for the latest Bolitho novel the book came as a huge disappointment. Those of us who have read all the pervious books do not need to be continually reminded of what has happened before. Those who have not read the other books would just be totally confused. I, for one, hope that the quality of the previous books is restored for future publications. Heart of Oak - Rated Having read all Kent books except Band of Brothers, and found them excellent to read , I ordered on the strength of the synopsis given for the book description, big mistake. Unfortunately after reading the book I got the impression that the book was rushed and the covered storylines were not completed as the book soon come to an end, perhaps covered in the next book? Could be better - Rated Most of the Bolitho books are superb but lately he spends so much time reflecting on the past rather than concentrating on writing the great stories we know he is capable of. The book is still worth reading but is not as great as previous versions.

After such a long wait for the latest Bolitho novel the book came as a huge disappointment. Those of us who have read all the pervious books do not need to be continually reminded of what has happened before. Those who have not read the other books would just be totally confused. Most of the Bolitho books are superb but lately he spends so much time reflecting on the past rather than concentrating on writing the great stories we know he is capable of. The book is still worth reading but is not as great as previous versions.
