Customer Reviews

An excellent, humorous but risque guide to poetry - Rated 5/5
This comprehensive book covers virtually all forms of poetry and is an excellent way to develop your 'inner poet'. It's written in Stephen Fry's usual humorous style, unfortunately there are passages (notably the section on limericks) that use rather suspect language, so be careful if you're intending to give this to someone who might be easily offended!

simply brilliant- poetry's mysteries uplocked - Rated 5/5
This book I really purchased for my wife as a Christmas present. But I have a small interest in poetry myself so I looked through it. Stephen Fry writes in a humourous yet serious style. He shows the various styles of poetry and explains them. Even my poor grasp of poetry was improved. I very much recommend this as a book for both the serious poet and the ' verse scribbler'- something here for everyone! Thank you Stephen!

The Ode Less Travelled by Stephen Fry - Rated 5/5
An excellent book that is only to be expected from a very talented Stephen Fry. Bought as a present for a poet friend but I had to read it first. Very enjoyable and very acceptable for my friend. I shall purchase another copy to keep.

Does what it says... - Rated 5/5
The work of a poetry lover,
Which does what it says on the cover.
And does it with an intelligently succinct quality. Ten out of ten for communication and comprehensibility.

The Classical How to Write Poetry Book - Rated 5/5
Stephen Fry has writen a comprehensive book on the classical forms of poetry, which is informative and amusing. His analysis of the various forms is exhaustive and, at times, exhausting. Both budding poets and those who wish to undertstand how poems are constructed will find instruction here.
If you can stay the course, and I am trying hard to do so,you will have a sound basis on which to write and/or read the very wide, diverse and range of poetry on offer today.
