My fave book - Rated 5/5
I agree this is inspirational. I laughed out loud through the chapters and cried too. I also was at a difficult point in life and this helped me through it, it's a book that highlights the humour in even the most unpleasant situations. I've read this about 7 times and if ever I feel a bit low, I pick it up......
Thank you Marion.

Reliable Marian! - Rated 4/5
Marian's classic easy-to-read comical style comes through in this book, and I enjoyed it a lot. I've read lots of Marian's books but I love the Walsh family collection the most. I will never tire of reading about Mam Walsh and Helen...(come on Marian, where's Helen's book?)

However, it did lose a star for me because I thought the book was a bit repetitive at times and Rachel's predictable and eventual realisation that she had a problem seemed to take forever. The characters in this book are too numerous - and sadly this meant that you didn't really get to know any of them well enough (or care about them)...Don, Barry, Neil, Mike etc etc. And whilst this doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the book - I think Marian missed a trick here. Still great fun, easy read and a page-turner. I would recommend to a friend - or you for that matter! :-)

Read by 'accident' - Rated 5/5
I had two Marian Keyes novel in my bookcase but thought they wern't my kind of read until I saw Marian Keyes on 'Loose Women' (TV prog.) and realised she was Irish. In my opinion the best writers of the English language are the Irish. Rachels Holiday is a touching accurate study of a girls descent into drug addiction. Rachel lives in New York has a super boyfriend and a tolerant girlfriend both of whom she abuses due to her addiction but when she overdoses she is taken back to Eire and sent to 'Coisters' a rehabilitatin centre. At times hilarious and other times touching but at all times very interesting and enlightening. Marian Keyes writes with ingegrity but still her books are real pageturners. I read 'Anybody out there' first but I would advise anyone to read Rachel's Holiday before 'Anybody out there' which was also excellent. I have since sent for three more of her books.

Best book of Keyes - Rated 5/5
This is amazing. its so well written that you just want to read it again and again. its great the way Rachel's perspective changes as she slowly realises that she really is a drug addict and your perspective changes aloing with her. a must read for everyone. five stars!

Insightful, witty, an amazing book - Rated 5/5
I love this book and have read it many, many times - despite not being an addict, I identify with Rachel in so many ways, it made me feel better knowing I wasn't alone in this! This is a beautiful book because it is light hearted and funny, but doesn't skip over the darker subjects of addiction, desperation and neediness. It is a very witty piece of writing, I can't tell you how clever the prose is, with quirky metaphors and intriguing descriptions. Buy it now!
