Elizabeth Bennet is the perfect Austen heroine: intelligent, generous, sensible, incapable of jealousy or any other major sin. That makes her sound like an insufferable goody-goody, but the truth is she's a completely hip character who ,if provoked, is not above skewering her antagonist with a piece of her exceptionally sharp, yet always polite, 18th-century wit. The real point of the book though, the critical question which will keep you fixated throughout, is: will Elizabeth and Mr Darcy hook up? Read this genuine all-time classic and discover the answer while enjoying a story that has charmed generation after generation.

The Best in Classic marriage stories - Rated 5/5
The story of Pride and Prejudice has held a place in the hearts of many, many people for many, many years. The story of the Bennet sisters, mainly from the point of view of the second elder sister Elizabeth, has captured the imagination; this can clearly be seen by how well-known the opening line is...'it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man, in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.'

The novel is based on the nature of marriage as a business, run by the matriarch Mrs. Bennett, but the reader falls in love with the two eldest Bennet girls because they refuse to treat it like that. Instead this is a love story when the reader suspects that love will eventually triumph.

The ups and downs of the story are enthralling and there is a constant suspicion that the ending will be a good one. This is a perfect feel good book for a Sunday afternoon.

I love Jane Austen - Rated 5/5
This has to be one of the best known classic novels of all time. Everyone has seen the film and lots of readers have read the book, so does the book really live up to its name? The story begins with the Mrs Bennet telling Mr Bennet that a rich young man (Mr Bingley) has come to stay at Netherfield and she wants one of her daughter to marry them. The girls all go to the informal ball and Mr Bingley is there along with his dearest friend Mr Darcy, a straight faced serious man who insults Lizzie within moments of meeting her. The book tells the story of their rocky relationship steeped with pride and prejudice. Within this main storyline there is the love between Bingley and Jane, as well as the hilarious Mr Collins. This book won't fail to impress a romantic Jane Austen fan. At the end, of all these inner stories intertwine to make the love between Darcy and Elizabeth possible. Pride and Prejudice is relatively easy going in terms of language and I think 14+ would enjoy this book. Maybe it is aimed towards the female population though. In three words: Go Jane Austen!

Dull, Dull and Dull. - Rated 1/5
This is my set text for A-level so I feel I know it fairly well. It's such a boring book in it's essence. Austen crafts a story that could have been done in 20 chapters over 62, it seems as if she writes one clever funny and exciting chapter then decides to write three or four chapters where the chracters dance a little and play cards. If you want a book about people dancing and playing cards with a plot that could have been thought up easily try this if not and you want a real classic I suggest you try the bronte sisters perhaps hardy they are like a fine bottle of wine whilst this is more like that present you get on christmas you've been waiting for for months then are so let down by it has not aged well as it's weak social commentary shows.

Classic fiction - Rated 5/5
This is a classic, and deservedly so. It's brilliant (and enjoyable, not just worthy - although it's worthy as well) literature from one of the best writers on the planet. Five stars!

Pride And Prejudice Review - Rated 5/5
Elizabeth Bennet meets the brooding Mr Darcy and they both get off to a bad start. But the more Elizabeth gets to know Mr Darcy, the more she realizes that first impressions aren't all that they seem...

One of my favorite Jane Austen books, it has everything you need in a romance novel. I'd reccomend this to all readers looking for a nice book with a happy ending
