Customer Reviews

Great readable autobiography - Rated 5/5
This book will surprise you. Pleasantly, I may add!
After reading the back cover in the book shop, it appealed to me, as I am interested in reading about WW2. But, I didn't know how well written, and thoroughly absorbing Tommy Steele's 'child to manhood' would be, particularly his days as a merchant sailor, before he found fame.
Like Norman Wisdom's autobiography, it's a 'must have' to read.

More Please Tom - Rated 5/5
A great read whether a fan of Tommy Steele or not.Wonderfully written from the heart about about the early life of an ordinary London boy who went on to be one of the worlds greatest stars.Like other reviewers, I couldnt put it down.Tommy,s story Made me laugh out loud at times and brought a tear to my eye at others.I hope that Tommy will continue his story with part 2.

Rags to riches - Rated 5/5
You don't need to be a fan of Tommy Steele to enjoy this book. It's so well written with pace, tension and a thrilling 'rags to riches' story. You'll wonder why - when lesser men have been honoured - Tommy still hasn't been knighted. Here is a celebrity with a real life story to tell, and to inspire others.

Bermondsey Boy - Rated 5/5
This is a wonderful book to read. I couldn't put it down. Such an incredibly interesting life and such a lovely family. It's always inspiring to read about a happy family such as Tommy (Hicks) Steele originated from in Bermondsey. He was in the right place at the right time when it came to rock 'n roll and he took off. Deservedly so. I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a good read.

Must read - Rated 5/5
I was given this book for Christmas. I read it in a day - couldn't put it down. Unlike with some autobiographies, I felt this book was all true. I learnt a lot about Tommy Steele which I didn't know and his descriptions of life in London during World War II are very moving. This book made me laugh out loud and also cry. You must read it.
