Customer Reviews

Highly Commended - Rated 5/5
I have been using this little book as a daily office for some months now and have not got board with it yet. The prayers are beautiuful, and while othodox, they are also creative and imaginative, a rare conbination. Having tried many offices this definitely suits my purposes best at present. It is convenient to use on bus, train, at home, in church or in the woods. I only wish there were a smart leather or hardbound edition.

David Adam of Lindisfarne - Rated 4/5
This is a book by a famous man. David Adam is a priest of the the Celtic culture Isle of Lindisfarne which is off of the coast of Northern England.

Every year millions and millions of tourists from the USA to China all visit the island for Holy pilgrimages. Also just as casual tourists whilst enjoying the summer sun and an ice cream.

David writes many books about Celtic Christianity and also nature and spirituality. Celtic Christianity was brought to Lindisfarne Island by the Irish. Saint Aidan is one of the many historical heroes who once fought to create a strong Christian mission in northern England on Lindisfarne Island.

This book is a super little easy to read book of prayer for the 7 days of the week. If you want to know what modern 21st century Celtic Christianity is all about then this would be a great start for your daily prayers.

get an easy start on daily prayer with Celtic soul friends - Rated 5/5
Drawing from the Celtic sources, and right through to the most current service books of his church, the vicar of St Mary's Church on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne here offers a weekly round of prayers. Each day is themed; all share a rhythm. The balance and reasonableness, the praise of creation and love of nature, the peaceful devotion in a world of striving, all are characteristic of David Adam's work and of the Celtic sources (Carmina Gaelica) in which he immersed himself before writing. Keep it bedside for daily use....

A wonderful book of daily prayer in the Celtic tradition - Rated 5/5
I have found this book immensely useful. It contains 28 short offices for personal or group prayer. It is arranged into four for each of the 7 days of the week and each office is drawn from many sources, some by Adam himself. Use occasionally or, better, regularly.
