It is an authoritative history of the changes in the WCG - Rated 4/5
It is an engaging and authoritative history of the changes that occurred in the WCG, written by a man who was at the epicentre of the changes and survived to tell the tale as a member and senior minister. The book is very readable, in fact it demands a second or third read to really absorb all that is in it. Mr Feazell does not pull his punches when it comes to describing the list of profound or petty doctrinal errors that were extant in the church under its founder, Herbert Armstrong. But he also gives due credit for some of the good characteristics of the church, such as its commitment to the authority of the Bible.

The book sets out some of the challenges that members of the WCG still need to grapple with, and soberingly, poses the question whether the WCG has a viable future at all.

The statistical information given in the appendices highlights the high cost to the church, both in membership numbers and finances, of the doctrinal changes that it has gone through.

While necessarily focusing on the errors of the past, the book emphasises that Jesus Christ is now regarded in the church as being of central importance (debatably a position that was previously held by the Sabbath and holy days).

The book does not devote much space to addressing the vexing question as to why so many members of the church, men and women who diligently studied their Bibles, did not individually see the major errors of Armstrongism until the changes were initiated by the leadership.
