Lets keep it short - If you like sci fi and you like to read, really like to read - a lot (it is particularly long) then crack on. This trilogy is one of the finest space sci fi sets I have ever read by a long way.
Lame ending - Rated
Where did it all go wrong? Where is the sense of any darkness that the first part of the trilogy promised? It's as if the story ran out of steam. By the time I skimmed the awful and unbelievable 'plot-device-by-magical-numbers' ending I no longer cared. Write less, write more darkly, play with ambiguities, and leave the reading guessing. No more Peter Hamilton for me - life's too short.

Firstly if you have made it this far nothing i say in this review will change your mind about wanting to buy or not to, the fact you are even looking here suggests that you have read the prior two books and want to know how it all ends. If you haven't start at the beginning with the Reality Dysfunction, it is unwise to start the trilogy with the finally.
As with the first two books i was glued all the way until the end desperate to know how things would end. You get much of what you got in the previous two books, hostile alien races, sly politicians, Capone coming up with new ways to take over the confederation and Dexter trying to bring the Gods Brother to the none believers and only Joshua Calvert can save the day.
Things did wrap up very fast (faster than i had hoped) but it is better than any number of drawn out endings that could have taken place. I believe those that gave the ending a bad review saw the ending of the trilogy as the making or breaking of all three books rather than the adventures that took place along the way. I can see little other way the book could have ended and it exceeded my expectations.
So if you are a space opera fan and have read the previous two books, buy today.
A worthwhile absorbing read but a little flat at the end - Rated
I've spent months reading this entire triology, it's not for the faint hearted reader with each of the 3 books consisting of upwards of 1200 pages but it's definatley a worthwhile read that takes you on a fascinating journey through a wonderously imaginative universe. As other reviews have noted there is an element of severe violence in one or two of the plot lines but don't let that put you off.
My only critisicm is the ending - after 5 months reading 4000+ pages the entire story seems to wrap up and end in the last 50 pages with many of the more drawn out storylines being given very little attention at the end of the story. It's a shame but it wouldn't stop me from recommending the book.
