Been there, seen it, tried it - Rated
I am a naturopathic doctor and this book was also passed to me by a patient of mine. I have already tried and tested all the methods that Dermot O'Connor talks about in his book, and they failed to rid me of a 5-year illness, which is why I turned elsewhere for help. In fact, the more I paid attention to the "monster", the bigger it grew! Dermot's 5 step healing code and recovery plan fails to acknowledge the Law of Attraction, which is the most powerful law in the universe and says that which is like unto itself is drawn and you get whatever you think about, whether you want it or not, so if you focus on your illness, then you will just attract more of it. He misses out the whole Science of Being Well, which means that a patient has to align him/herself with wellness in order for the method being used to work. This is why methods like homeopathy and allopathy, which work in completely opposite ways have both cured the same disease! I have numerous patients who have also tried many of the methods that Dermot suggests to no avail, which is why they have turned to me. Dermot's "healing code" will only make you well again if you believe that it will + beware of focusing on illness, not health and wellness.
Healing code is missing 1 step - Rated
I was diagnosed with MS too and although Dermot O'Connor's Healing Code talks about detoxification, it misses out the essence and specifics of this, and the importance of cleansing 4 vital parts of the body - the colon, liver, blood and kidneys. This is vital to any healing program, especially with regard to a serious illness. You cannot rebuild and maintain a healthy immune system without cleansing it 1st. This was the key to my recovery and research supports the fact that the digestive system is located close to the immune system, and that if you cleanse the digestive system, then it has a serious impact on getting rid of auto-immune diseases like MS. I feel that Dermot O'Connor's recovery plan is lacking. His Healing Code needs to be 6 steps - detox in addition to the other 5.
What about the spine? - Rated
As a chiropractor by trade, I hoped that Dermot would have included the vital importance of chiropractic treatment in his 5-step healing code and recovery plan. Alas no. It is a well documented fact that misaligned vertebra can often cause many of the symptoms of MS, yet this crucial aspect is missing! The whole focus of the healing code is based on internal factors like diet and emotional state, but the spine is the central backbone of the nervous system and correcting it must therefore surely be part of the key to the cure? Certainly, my experience has proved that chiropractic treatment has helped a lot of MS sufferers and other nervous system disorders, and I feel strongly that any "healing code" should reflect this.
Nothing New - Rated
This book is basically nothing more than a repeat of a ton of other books out there aimed at positive thinking and healthy eating. It contains nothing new at all. I was extremely disappointed. I am an MS sufferer too and sadly this book has not helped me in my recovery at all.
This book needs some amendments - Rated
Dermot O'Connor misses out 2 vital factors in his 5-step recovery plan, the
1st one being DETOXIFICATION! You need to cleanse the immune system 1st before you can rebuild and maintain it. The author also omits the importance of chiropractic treatment and the fact that misaligned vertebra can often cause many of the symptoms of MS. The spine is the backbone of the nervous system and correcting it must therefore be part of the key to the cure. Furthermore, you are not going to cure yourself of a serious illness by "punching a bag to get rid of your anger" or "imagining long blue roots extending from your feet into the earth". Dermot's healing code would be more convincing if he had included case histories of and testimonials from people who had been seriously debilitated by MS or other illnesses and recovered using his methods. His exercises are also really aimed at people who have minor illnesses or minor attacks of serious illnesses, rather than those who are disabled. At best this book has some useful tips. Take out of it what you want/need and dump the rest, but please don't treat it as your bible.
