Poignant, Emotional & Powerful. Totally unputdownable. - Rated
Jodi Picoult is widely acclaimed for her keen insights into the hearts and minds of real people. In this book "My Sisters Keeper" she tells the emotionally riveting story of a family torn apart by conflicting needs and a passionate love that triumphs over human weakness. Whilst maintaining a firm grasp of the delicacy and complexity of human relationships. She ably explores a complex subject with boldness and clarity and comes up with a heart wrenching unexpected plot at the books conclusion.
It has been a long time since I have read a book within 2 days of opening its cover and it has been a long time since I have sat reading, laughing and crying and feeling every emotion almost at once...to me that is a sign of an accomplished author who can really get inside your mind and into your heart.
I highly recommend this book.
Amazing book - Terrible ending! - Rated
I really loved this book .... and was totally captured by each and every character, and their story ... until the last few pages, that is! Without giving too much away, I was totally disappointed by an ending that flew out of the left field, and seemed completely unneccesary. I was actually really angry that the author had ended the book in the way she did. A sad ending, even one that makes me angry, isn't necessarily a bad thing - but this one appears to be completely pointless.
I've since read that Jodi Picoult loves to put unguessable twists at the ends of her books ... and on that account alone, I am unsure if I will ever read one of her books again.
A Different side to every story - Rated
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it worked well including the different character viewpoints. The only thing that stopped this book being a 5 star was the ending feeling alittle rush but maybe that was Picoult showing the pace of life. Definitely worth a read.
Absolutely Beautiful - Rated
I have read quite a few of Picoult's books and I have to say that this book is beautiful, stunning and simply amazing. During this book, the characters do alot of soul searching and try to figure out what is moral and what is ethical, what is right and what is wrong. Another point I love about this book is that it does not necessarily focus on the patient i.e. Kate but the effects her illness has on her family and how they live their life which is intertwined with hers. I began to feel so sorry for the rest of the family as Kate becomes the centre and no one else is really given that much attention.
The ending was just... sad (sad doesnt really cut it but I cant think of any other word). After reading this book, I felt like I have lived with the family and can understand their situation. I would recommend this book to everyone and anyone; if you love this book then you should really read The Pact which is also by her (and my personal favourite) and Nineteen Minutes.
Great Book - Rated
This is one of those books that has everything. It involves the reader right from the start. I won't give away the story because I think it will spoil it for you. Just make sure that you are on your own when you read it because there are some very emotional scenes. I read it with tears in my eyes and didn't want to put it down. Definitely a Christmas read, curled up in front of the fire. Enjoy
