SIMPLY THE BEST - Rated 5/5
Its me again!

Anyway Kel has past her probation year. But the some of the boys are not happy about it. But she keeps on fighting to get her point across that she is not to be messed around with.

This book takes you through her Page years. Which is i think 2 years. She has proven herslef that she is just as good as any boy.
but the boys and Joren and his gang still keep on fighting back. With all the insults and tricks. But she is a stone, hard to break down.

But then the insults and tricks all stop and she can now think of her work and Test-day. Which will lead her into her Squire years. But she is going through some womenly changes. But it doesnt stop her.

She does some extraordinary things and her relationship continues with Neal and her other friends. But faces a big decison which may stop her from becoming a Squire. Does she help someone she cares about or does she go to her exams for becoming a squire. Is this why Joren and his gang kept so quite and was being nicer to her? Read a discover!

The Second Year: more fun and more depth - Rated 4/5
Whilst 'First Test' was a good introduction to Keladry of Mindelan and her storyline, 'Page' beats it by a mile. The characters we know are expanded upon (with the exception of Joren, Vinson and Garvey, who just seem to be nasty bullies) and the new characters are also interesting, particularly Jump the lop-eared mongrel and Lalasa, Kel's timid new maid. Her development is particularly satisfying, although Pierce takes care that the subplots never crowd out the main storyline: Kel managing to get through second year, and the first confusing waves of adolescence. Having developed early myself, I completely sympathised with her mixture of bewilderment and total disgust("I don't want this!"). You find out her motivations for becoming a night, the origin of her vertigo, and you meet her wonderful parents. The ending is incredibly dramatic, but also satisfying.

I don't think that King Jonathan comes off as bad - more like someone who's had to withdraw and grow a shell because of the pressures on him. He's certainly better than the Emperor Ozorne!

Those who liked 'First Test' will definitely love this, and it only gets better.

A great book by a great author - Rated 5/5
Keladry of Mindelan is the first girl to try for knighthood (without disguising herself as a boy) in over a century. Lord Wyldon (the training master) hadn't been pleased with that, so he'd put her on probaion. Kel had proven herself again and again so he'd had to let her stay.
Well this book, she's back again!
Kel is on her 2nd year of being a page. She works hard and keeps proving herself as good (and often better) than the boys.
She has loads of adventures and does other useful things (like training her maid in hand-to-hand combat). Did I forget to mention she has a mysterious well-wisher who gives her loads of handy stuff?
Anyway, it's definately another great Tamora Pierce book. Fast-paced andvery entertaining.
Part of the Protector of the Small series: The First Test, Page, Squire, Lady Knight

This is one of my favourite books I've read! - Rated 5/5
I Can't wait to read the next book. The only girl to train to become a knight without being under false pretences is Kel. She has been training as a page for a year, some of the other pages still despise her mainly for being a girl.
Something happens on the day of the great examination that prevents Kel from getting to the test. Will she get to the exams in time? Read the book to find out.
