The War to end all wars and the sequel....... - Rated 5/5
The best 'Horrible Histories' ever. This book explains how the 2 wars began, as if explaining it to a child, and lets be honest we wouldnt understand otherwise. Both books give us a time-line so we can understand what they hell happened. Then we get lots of gruesome and interesting stories from the trenches from both sides. Gladly this book isnt 'too' biased and gives us survival stories from both sides. As well as stories of how crazy the English, French and Germans became from paranoa. We killed several of our own people in England after accusing them of been spies. Even kids got shot. And lets not forget how german Shepards in England were burned to death for been German. (Remember the English originally came from Germany 1600yrs ago as Anglo-Saxons-the ignorance is shocking). These two books are a fantastic read, full of interesting stuff that will answer most of your questions that you wont find anywhere else. Highly recommended.

The only negative thing I can say is, it doesnt answer the big questions like, Why did England team up with a murdering Communist dictatorship like Russia? And why risk English lives for foreign Poles? If Hitler started a race war, then why did England declare war on our own race? By destroying Germany did we actually destroy ourselves in the process? What does the future hold for the 'real' English? It makes you think....?

`23rd August 1939
Shock! Deadly enemies unite! Mr Adolf Hitler of Germany (with a toothbrush moustache) and Mr Josef Stalin of the Soviet Union (with a yard-brush moustache) peacefully agree not to fight one another. No chance. Never trust a man with a moustache.....

1st September 1939
A. Hitler (the liar) had promised not to invade Poland. Today his army invades Poland...... and `peacefully' shares it with the Soviets. No one asked the Poles, of course. Britain and France say they'll fight for Poland's freedom. That means war!............'

Stuffez-vous, Monsieur Itlaire! - Rated 5/5
Whether frightful or woeful, the two world wars must have been occasions we sadly missed out from our history books. Ladies and gents: forget those nightmarish hystery classes, snap up your copy of this and engross yourself.
Mind you: this IS an instructive survey (a teacher should know), but in to the bargain (£5.99 or less) one get the odds and ends and titbits the self-respecting history book looks down on with condescension.
This is facts seasoned by the naked chefs of history with a pinch of Chaplin's Shoulder Arms and Beany Blackadder.
Wanted things interactive? What about the quizzes, the recipes, the do's and don'ts, not to forget, Martin Brown's tongue-in-cheek cartoons.
Why wait? Forget "vere'ave you'idden ze biddy, Leclerc?", but roll up the barrel and snap up that copy.
And eat your heart out, Duglaz'Aig.

Loved It!!!!!!!!! - Rated 5/5
This book had show me how Terry Deary is a great autor, because he could tell a sad and serious fact(the war) in a very funny and intresting manner without getting the reader bored to death. This book tells you some ghosts stories that the soldiers belived, the importance of the animals in the two wars, all of this(and a lot more) whit true stories. The illustrations are terrific!Martin Brown really draws good!!If you want to know:
-how sniffing your ow pee could save your life in the WW1?
-how a pair of old socks give away german top-secrets?
-Why wearing white kinickers could get you killed in the WW2
and-What the heck is a Zepplin?
The epilogue of the two books are beutiful!!!!!!!!!!
