"Face up to your fears. Take Control: Stand up to OCD" - Rated 5/5
This book is written by some one who has suffered from OCD, and as a result, it tends to provide sensible and relevant advice to the reader.

It includes detailed description of the steps involved in the behavioural therapy approach to dealing with obsessions and compulsions. This approach can be practiced by anyone, and could produce dramatic improvements in the life of the suffere by reducing the anxieties caused by obsessions (Osborn states though, that severe cases will require professional help during the therapy). There is also a great section on tips from real life sufferes on the techniques that they have used and found useful to succeed in exercising the behavioural therapy.

Osborn is a great advocate for using medication in the treatment of OCD, and he provides a chapter detailing the most common drugs that can be used for this purpose, including their benefits and side effects.

As well as being compasionately written, the book is very comprehensive in its coverage of the subject matter. It provides clear definitions of Obessions and Compulsions, Real life case studies of people who battled against various types of OCD, an explanation of the common peronality characteristics found in OCD sufferes, as well as a section on help and guidance for families on dealing with OCD.

There is an interesting section at the end of the book that explores OCD cases througout history, some as old as 570. It makes the reader appreciates the recent medical advances in diagnosing and treating OCD, which is also detailed in another chapter within the book.

Best book on OCD I have read! - Rated 5/5
I have suffered from OCD for a number of years and this book is one of the best I have read on the subject (and I have read a lot!) It's very useful in focusing on a variety of different types of OCD sufferers, ranging from washers and checkers to those who experience distressing obsessional thoughts but do not necessarily accompany these with a physical reaction-basically after reading this book you realise you're not alone! I was impressed with the style of writing and feel uplifted whenever I read it as the author is very encouraging. He offers the reader a number of practical solutions to their OCD problems and you will finish this book wanting to make positive changes and feeling capable of doing so. It's excellent and if you like this you should also check out 'the imp of the mind' by Lee Baer which is also very good in providing practical advice to sufferers.

For the layman - Rated 5/5
Very good simple to understand explanation of OCD. This has helped me understand the condition . The author is simple but profound in helping the layman understand the reasons for tormenting thoughts and rituals.Buy it . The cover looks a bit disturbing I think but inside you will find light and understanding.

honest - Rated 5/5
This is one of the best books that i have read on obsessive compulsive disorder. It is honest and very true to the illness. Many books which deal with OCD fail to talk about many of the symptoms which we feel ashamed of or are afraid to discuss, but Osborn gives a very open description of these and offers practical and positive advice and explanations.

A diamond among the coal... - Rated 5/5
This is a beautifully written piece of work. Osborn not only explains OCD but he knows it! I myself suffer from OCD and if it weren't for this book I would still be stumbling around in the dark thinking I was crazy. This book is truly unique in the sense that Osborn's own suffering of OCD allows him to truly delve into the heart of the problem and explain it, unlike some others who inadequately attempt to review and explain the disorder without bringing to light the full extent to which it is suffered by millions of people worldwide. Osborn's compassion and understanding of the subject makes this book a must have, not only for all OCD sufferers but all who wish to understand the chemical disorder of Obsessive-Ccompulsive Disorder. A truly awesome book. I recommend it to anyone looking for enlightenment on the subject.
