Good read - Rated
I think that it's silly that some people are rating this book by one star, just because it's a childrens book. Being a childrens book doesn't automatically make it bad. I am in my teens and I too, bought it, without realising it was a childrens book. But I really enjoyed it and plan to read the rest of the series.
The Ranger's Apprentice: From a 23 year olds point of view. - Rated
I loved this book, the only reason I knew it was aimed at kids was because of the reviews on here, but don't let it put you off. I'm a 23 year old and it still aroused the excitement and feelings towards the characters that i've felt in many other "Adult" books. It starts off with a very familiar setting... anyone who's read "The Magician" by Raymond E. Feist may see a resemblance to the start... just imagine Pug and Tomas started off as enemies and you'd be pretty much there. That's not a bad thing... I loved the magician too.
All in all I think the book was a great read for a short book, you could probably polish it off in a few hours if you need to. It's not expensive either I think I bought it for under £2 so there's not really any reason not to try it.
Pleasantly Surprised - Great for more than just "Young Adults" - Rated
After catching onto the "high fantasy" novel genre and trying to devour my way through every one ever written, it was with some shock that when this book arrived I realised it was aimed more at the "young adults" market. That said, after I begun reading it I lost all apprehension and throughly enjoyed this great read. Fans of the huge volumes of Tolkien, Jordan & Goodkind may be a little disappointed, massive and sprawling it isnt, but those of us who have grown a little jaded by these weighty classics will absolutely love this series. A light, easy to pick up and put down read, its a great way to lose yourself for an afternoon in a world of swords, shields, bows and heroic deeds! Very much looking forward to the follow ups!

Excellent! - Rated
Unlike the review which only gave this book 1 star I have actually read the book! I only bought it this morning and already finished it, whixh in itself must tell you something! I thought it was an excellent page turner for adults and children alike (- i read a lot of children's books as i am a primary teacher and am always on the look out for the next class novel). It has a fast plot and a main character that you can emphathise with, to the point in which you are caught up in Will's world!
I will be reading on with this series. Give it a try!
