Customer Reviews

If only all books read this well - Rated 5/5
I have found this book easy to read and understand as well as finding it one of the best books I have read in a long time about the relationships we can have with our dogs. I am pretty good at watching the behaviour of my dogs and others and what their body language is saying but this has opened my eyes to many more things.
I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who is considering it.

This book works - Rated 5/5
Though not a training manual, this book teaches you to appreciate your dog for himself and trains you to watch out for subtle canine signals which your dog is always sending out to try and communicate with us if only we'd listen. It makes sense really, we all know that a bite comes after a raised lip, then exposure of teeth and possibly more signals before this final desperate step to get you to pay attention.

There is much more than aggression to this book of course and I know I'll read it again when I need reminding to lose my ego and 'See the dog'. It has changed and deepened my relationship with my dog in such a way that I wasn't reading the book thinking the author had magic powers I couldn't possibly imitate.

Possibly the most enjoyable, practicle and life affirming book I have ever read.

Best explaination of the human/dog relationship I have read - Rated 5/5
This woman has put into words what every dog competitor knows in their heart. The relationship will make or break the actions you see in your dog. It is wonderful and I had to read thru and reread again. I found this author by reading her article " He just wants to say Hi" I roared with laughter. Had to order this book.

truth touches my heart - Rated 5/5
I haven't yet finished reading this book, but can honestly say that it is changing my life. It's very hard to put into words the profound effect it is having upon me.The love, truth and compassion that suzanne has for dogs and the way she gently guides the reader towards a space in which it is possible to understand not only the way dogs communicate with us,but also how we can build a deep and meaningful relationship with them and also with ourselves, has the effect of moving me to tears each time I read her book.I recommend this to anyone who dares to drop their ego and attitude of ''I know best'' and who wants to explore and find a softer more real, loving, holistic, truthful approach to being with their dog. Thankyou suzanne for writing this book and helping me to open my heart.

The best dog book I have read - Rated 5/5
I loved this book, as never having had a dog before, it really helped me to understand what having a dog meant. After attending a training class where bullying and shaking dogs by the collar was used to gain respect from dogs, I felt very sad for the dogs and owners. I knew it was wrong and wanted support for a different way. Suzanne Clothier has written her book from a deep and long understanding of dogs, and it is written from the heart with confidence. It also provides a very strong message for our human relationships. I wish I had known about this book when I first got my puppy.
