some insights but nothing ground-breaking - Rated I bought this book because of Burns' excellent Feeling Good roadmap to happiness, and I thought it could open up intimacy in the same way his other title opened up the cognitive basis of happiness. It applies essentially the same techniques, which remain great, but doesn't seem to have as many insightful 'real-life' examples as Feeling Good has. Maybe it's just that because the main lessons are transferred across to intimacy instead of happiness, the overall impact was lessened. The examples simply seemed more obvious in this title, and i was sitting there skimreading instead of really revelling in the lessons. A bit disappointing, even though the overall thrust is still one that I buy into bigtime. Insightful,Practical, and enlightening!!! - Rated Dr. Burns finds great ways of taking psychological insight and making it practical and very applicable to anyone. After reading this book I can be alone without feeling lonely. I also greatly enhanced my interpersonal relations as well as I gained insight to my own thoughts and behavior. Just like your own personal LOVE coach! - Rated I read this book a few years ago during a major dry spell in my love life. It literally opened my eyes, and the result has been more confidence (and romance)! You'll find lots of great psychological insights here, ready to be put into action in your own life. This book is about love, and I LOVED this book. Read it yourself and watch your love life take off!

Dr. Burns finds great ways of taking psychological insight and making it practical and very applicable to anyone. After reading this book I can be alone without feeling lonely. I also greatly enhanced my interpersonal relations as well as I gained insight to my own thoughts and behavior.
