Just what I was looking for! - Rated I obtained my physics degree before the perfection of the Standard Model and have never worked in that field, so I was looking for an explanation of the model and all the strange particles such as quarks and gluons. I was agreeably surprised by the insight the author was able to convey without falling back on mathematics. It has encouraged me to go on to read books such as QED - The Strange Theory of Light and Matter (Penguin Press Science) by that gifted teacher Richard Feynman. Standard model - Rated A relatively gentle introduction to the standard model for the layman. If you ever wanted to know about Quarks, positrons, spin etc
