Customer Reviews

Much better books available for knitting. - Rated 2/5
The first word that comes to mind about this book is "dated". It was first published in 1962. While it's full of a variety of designs that can be used in knitting, there are many pattern books out there now that are so far superior, this one can only be called disappointing.

Each chapter in the book is dedicated to patterns developed in different areas of the world. The first page of each chapter tells a minimal amount about the knitting of that area, but not enough - and not interestingly enough - to be of much value. The patterns themselves can nearly all be found in many other books.

Personally, when looking for patterns, I want to look for ones that can be classed according to knitting technique - cables, lace, color, slip stitch, and such. This book carries a few of each type, but not enough to make it worthwhile.

My own interest in purchasing it was the hope of finding new ideas, but the book fails to deliver anything intriguing.
