A while ago, and inspired by a good friend, I took up collecting paper dolls and decided to make Tom Tierney's dolls the object of my collection. I have quite a few of his recently designed dolls in my collection to date, and I am happy with all of them. Recently, I got this particular doll from amazon.co.uk and I was surprised and delighted at the beauty of the doll. Tom Tierney is, indeed, a collector's delight, however, I am not quite sure when exactly he started designing paper dolls. The earliest of his dolls that I have seen are dated in the late 1970s, but most of the dolls I have in my collection that are designed by him, are quite recent. So, I ordered this one, dated 1981, with some trepidation. However, I am a Vivien Leigh fan, so I had to have this doll. When the book arrived on my doorstep, I was delighted to see that his ealier work is as good as his more recent dolls are. Vivien is beautifully portrayed in paper doll form and the book contains most of the beautiful dresses that are featured in the film "Gone with the Wind" as well as many other outfits from her earlier and later films too. I particularly like the designs from "Anna Karenina" and "Caesar and Cleopatra". Such is the diversity of the outfit designs in this book. If you are a collector of paper dolls and are "comming into" Tom Tierney, so to speak, then you will love this doll. I am very happy that I took the chance and ordered, what I think to be, one of his earlier paper dolls. So, if you are a Vivien Leigh fan and a collector of paper dolls I would highly recommend you get this doll added to your collection. I certainly am!
