I really enjoyed reading this book, although, I must admit it is not an easy read. I am not a native speaker of English and sometimes found the narrative a bit hard to follow. It should also be noted that the book is written in a different time and is accordingly not as fast paced as one would nowadays expect it.

Altogether though, it is a great piece of literature that provides increadible insights into the hardships of travel in Africa, into the minds of the colonial explorers and into political organisation of Africa at the time. I can only recommend it.
