Showing its age - Rated 3/5
This book is the 1967 Dover reprint of the 1959 original. It was probably ground-breaking in its day, but it is clearly showing its age now. The first 100 pages or so cover information theory and the rest are basically multivariate analysis. The treatment is pretty rigorous, more suited to the mathematician than the engineer. Solomon Kullback was the Chief Scientist at the NSA, the USA's primary crytology facility, and one wonders whether this written to bring new mathemetician recruits up to speed with the stats they needed. These days there are better books on information theory and multivariate analysis.
