A great introduction to psychology - Rated 5/5
I bought this book on the reccomendation of a friend with a psychology background. Without being either patronising or too technical this was a great introduction for a layperson to the way people think and respond to eachother. A well balanced and amusingly written book. I'll be looking out for more by this author.

an ideal present - Rated 5/5
Don't judge a book by its cover; there are remarkably few giraffes in this book!

What is in it is a clever and witty discussion of well-known proverbs, and how they relate to human behaviour. Well worth a read, and an ideal present.

Brilliant idea for a book! - Rated 5/5
Brilliant idea, intelligently written, relating well-known proverbs to everyday situations (we don't all feel the same about football, however!). Just goes to show you can't live your life by a set of rules.

Don't judge this book by its cover (although that's quite good too) - Rated 5/5
I really enjoyed this. I've done psychology at A'level and recognised quite a lot of the studies and theories but what I really liked is the way this book shows how they fit in to our every day lives and the things we say and do. Really easy to read - you can impress your friends with your knowledge and understanding of human nature after reading this book!

Brilliant idea and hugely enjoyable book - Rated 5/5
Bought this for my Dad for Christmas but started reading it when it arrived and it's very clever and a brilliant idea for a book. Basically the author examines whether any of the old proverbs that we use everyday are true psychologically speaking. So for instance: is beauty in the eye of the beholder? Do first impressions count? Do birds of a feather flock together? Will flattery get you everywhere? There are 60 plus such proverbs answered and each chapter is a delight. Really interesting and makes you smile and think at the same time. I find this quite rare in books nowadays. I'm buying a copy for all my relatives now this christmas - christmas presents sorted- it's not too academic but not too simply writen either. Highly recommended.
