Hilarious - saved me when my flight was delayed - Rated 5/5
Thank goodness I saw this before heading to the airport, I would have gone crazy with boredom without it. This is the second Sophie Kinsella book I have read and found it hard to put down (I was banned from reading it at one point as my husband didn't want to have to cope with me bookless and bored later on!). It was a nice, entertaining, witty and easy read. The characters were well thought out and I was pleased with the outcome of the book. I have added the other Sophie Kinsella books to my shopping list!

Pure escapism - Rated 4/5
This is the story of Samantha, a top lawyer who is just about to become a partner in the firm where she has worked for years. However, she makes a costly mistake, and just ups and leaves. She gets on a train and ends up in a small Cotswold village, where she gets taken on as a housekeeper! Cue lots of comic moments because Samantha can't cook, can't do anything domestic in fact. She meets Nathaniel, a gardener, and they fall in love. Samantha eventually finds out that she didn't make a mistake after all - she was set up, and she manages to prove it. She is offered a partnership in her old firm. The plot holds your interest until the end, and the ending doesn't disappoint either. The romance is realistic and touching and all the characters are well-developed. You can easily warm to Samantha. Kinsella's writing style is one which I really admire. She injects life into her characters - they're so realistic. Kinsella also makes a valid point about today's society, about working too much, getting stressed and not having a life basically. All in all, a very good read.

Better then I expected and quite good fun but still not great - Rated 3/5
I was given this book with a few other chick lit type books and had fairly low expectations of it when I read it. However, I liked the story and thought that it could be believeable.
To my surprise i found myself liking Samantha, although I wasn't convinced that she was a top lawyer
There were a few details which were badly dealt with which kept annoying me throughout the story - run off to the country fine - leave your flat fine - but it didn't feel right that she didn't go and get anything from the flat at all - not just no clothes but nothing.
I felt that the ending was completely predictable but i guess it had to be - Easy way to pass the time of day.

Loved it - Rated 5/5
This was the first sophie Kinsella book that I read, it only took me 4 days to read it as it is sooooo good! Sophie Kinsella really captures your imagination and it was like I could see what was actually happeneng, which I suppose it means that it is a great book! I recommend this to anyone that has some time on their hands as I bet you wont be able to put it down!

Also recommended: Tino Georgiou's -- The Fates.

I didn't want it to end! - Rated 5/5
This is the first supposedly "chick lit" book I've read in a long time and I feel it doesn't at all fit into this category. 'Goddess' has been a joy to read from start to finish and surprisingly credible too. I thought I would have to suspend my belief in parts (how could a high flying lawyer with no catering experience even contemplate trying to succeed as a housekeeper) but Sophie Kinsella always manages to give her situations an edge of realism that has you believing anything is possible. The plot is tightly woven too and Kinsella displays a great deal of skill in bringing events to a satisfying conclusion. I was so disappointed to finally finish the book, I'm wondering if I can start a petition to tempt Ms Kinsella to write a sequel?! Definitely worthy of five stars.
