Short, but so is a 1" Punch to the Gut - Rated 5/5
I did not realise how quick a read this would be: I read the whole thing in an evening!
Harris' writing style relentlessly smashes misconceptions about atheism while at the same time exposing the great fallacies of organised religion. It is lean and intelligent, never apologetic, and always relevant. I can't attest to its effectiveness as a catalyst for critical thought in the mind of a religious person, but I imagine it would give them something to think about. I imagine that the main problem is getting a believer to read it in the first place, although due to its size it is far more accessible than the God Delusion.

Disproportionate Impact - Rated 5/5
This is only a little book, written in plain language, that you could read in an hour.
But the impact the ideas it contains could have upon your view of the world and mankind will be immense.
An excellent book.

Who is the real target - Rated 5/5
A great book, an easy read and rightly uncomfortable for all Christians, but fundamentalists in particular. However, is the title an issue, given that the most notable and extreme comments are reserved for Muslims?

Nevertheless, it is great stuff and highly recommended.

Short and to the point - Rated 5/5
If you believe that the bible is neither historical fact nor a suitable moral compass for the development of humankind but have been unable to confidently express this in a debate with a 'believer' then "Letter to a Christian Nation" will suitably arm you with all the logic, reason and scripture to make your case.

It's a very short book, easily read in an evening, but is very much to the point. It applies the same reasonable scrutiny to religion as we are encouraged to apply to all other areas of science and anthropology, no more and no less. The result is a balanced, unbiased yet very conclusive argument against the existence of a biblical God, highlighting the very real dangers of religion and 'blind faith' and providing a water-tight defense of its conclusions.

A thoroughly easy but compelling read - Rated 5/5
For me, Sam Harris' direct writing style in addressing a specific `type' of Christian throughout the book helped make his arguments more real and more urgent. It helped to hit home the point that what was being discussed wasn't just an argument against loosely held theories but instead a powerful criticism of strongly held beliefs across modern day America. Both the brevity of the book together with the style make it a considerably easier read than the God Delusion whilst hitting on a great number of similar themes. Harris' criticisms are well developed and easy to follow whilst the numerous passages he cites from scriptures just add to the weight of his arguments. An existing Atheist will find little to disagree with here (and will probably enjoy the validation that the read provides) and the `undecideds' amongst us will certainly be given a whole lot to think about at the very least. As for the `believers' (I can't think of a better word) out there, be prepared for the book to attack the very core of your beliefs from the outset and it doesn't let up from there. A great read!
