Poetry for the very very young - Rated
This is a great work of literature disguised as a board book. Boynton uses children's fascination with animal sounds to great effect: the rhyme is strong and simple, without being nauseating in the way baby books often are, and bears endless repetition; and I think pictures are Boynton's best so far, clean and uncluttered. Our older children (aged 3) now 'read' it from memory to the baby. He in turn has proved an addict ever since he could crawl to the bookshelf to fetch it on his own. Fun for all, from babyhood up, but especially for those just learning to talk.

We had a copy of this book ten years ago, when our eldest was small. When we were recently trying to recall what entertained her (and us) back then, we found that we could still recite Moo Baa LaLaLa perfectly, and it still makes us laugh! I now want a copy for the latest addition to our family, just so we can have the fantastic illustrations too.

All of Sandra Boyton's books that I've purchased has been a hit with us and this one is one of the best. It has an easy to remember rhyme and my daughter has been adding in the animal sounds since she could first speak them. The singing pigs that say "la la la" instead of oink! continue to make us laugh 1000 repitions later. It's such a favourite that we recite it by heart when we're out and in need of a distraction. I'd recommend this as an entertaining book for children of 12 months and older and as a great present. Another 5 star favourite by the same author is Hippos Go Beserk.

Another superb offering from Sandra Boynton. Simple but addictive, my daughter adored this bok. The rhymes are simple and the rhythms are perfect. Also, more than a little humour thrown in - short enough and fun enough not to get too boring for Dad when read the fifth time...

We LOVE Moo Ba Lalala. My 4 month old son begins drooling as soon as he sees the book in my hands -and there's a good chance that moo might be his first word. We're now on line to buy up the rest of Boynton's books. This is why I had kids - to read books like Moo Ba Lalala.
