"The Mother Theresa of Cooking" - Rated 4/5
The Ministry of Food is a great book with some fantastic recipes. Jamie can be a bit annoying sometimes, but he is so passionate about what he does and now he is trying to teach the country to cook. I wish him luck. I do cook and wasn't going to buy the book, as I have a rather large collection of cookbooks and didn't think I needed another just yet. A friend read out some of the dishes and I had to rush and get it straight away. I have already cooked the Minced Beef Wellington, a curry, Chicken & Wine Stew (the leftovers were topped with pastry to make a pie the next day) and the Banana Tarte Tatin. I'm hooked and really want to "pass it on". The pictures are good and the instructions are straigtforward. This book is not just for those who don't or can't cook, but for anyone who likes great food. A great book for your collection.

A must for any novice! - Rated 5/5
My husband recently bought this book once we'd seen the first show on tv and he immediately started cooking. Until now his skills have been limited to say the least and I've been nagging him for ages to learn properly so that he can give me at least one night off! This book is really inspiring to a complete novice and I too think it's a really handy book for busy mums like me (who can cook but need a bit of inspiration) as it's got plenty of quick recipes for family meals in the week. My favourite is the spaghetti and meatballs and I'm dying to try the baked french potatoes. You know, Jamie gets so much flack but if people just took a step back and listened instead of criticising they'd understand what he's trying to achieve. No one else is doing anything like this and he's really proving that cooking is easy and far cheaper than living on ready meals and junk food! Well done Jamie :-)

Thanks Jamie! - Rated 5/5
Just bought the book today for a bargain tenner, and as it's a cold day chose the stew recipe (hotpot version). I bought the ingredients in my lunch hour and have cooked it tonight. Simple as that. The recipe was really clear to follow, and the results were absolutely delicious. Plus my kitchen smells like a proper kitchen for the first time in a long time!

I should add that I'd never made a hotpot before in my life - my culinary repertoire is lamentably limited to about 10-12 dishes that I seem to constantly rotate, which of course gets boring, which is when you reach for a ready meal (M&S or not, it's still full of rubbish).

After a successful first attempt at one of the recipes, it seems a great book to just dive in to and get fresh inspiration. Thoroughly recommended!

An excellent book - Rated 5/5
This is an excellent book and provides great ideas for the experienced and well as no so experienced cook. Those of the "won't do it unless it's free" brigade should understand that people don't attach any value to things that are free. To ensure the book has value (and is subsequently used) cash needs to be forked out to purchase it. Anyway, no-one pays the recommended retail price for a book nowadays and even the traditional high street stores are discounting now. All that needs to be done is to give up a couple of packets of fags or one takeaway and this book is easily affordable. Jamie, you're doing a great job. Well done.

A Cook-Book for Today - Rated 5/5
The best thing about Jamie's new book is that it gives you a huge repertoir of every-day healthy food that you can enjoy on a budget. It includes a large number of recipes around a theme - Mince for instance. How many of us depend on good old mince in these times? More than that though, if you are used to enjoying Chinese and Indian Takeaways Jamie has provided a full menu of these too -- all your favourites are in there & you can make them yourself! There how many cook-books teach you how to put together salads and breakfasts that are quick, simple and healthy? Spread the word... cooking is for everyone. I can't wait to try every recipe as it all looks so easy and good to eat. I tried the Fish Pie first -- that was really good because I don't usually like fish, but I loved this. I recomend that if you live alone you just make a whole batch (for 4 or 6) and freeze the remaining portions -- better and cheaper than takeaways.
