The Gilded Tarot Boxset - Rated 5/5
Absolutely amazing Tarot cards - the artwork is gr8 and I am over the moon with these - they feel so right

Golden cards - Rated 4/5
This deck I purchased with another beginners guide incl. cards - I by 100% made a choice of using these cards to the alternative pack that I got.

The cards are beautifully presented and easy to learn. The description in the book is a bit lacking in communicating the various meanings, however, this did not stop me from obtaining further in depth information from internet to support my interpretation of the cards.

I have used this deck to learn - and I have purchased another set of the same design to compliment my first set.

Well worth purchasing.

Lilly

A "marmite" deck - like or don't like - Rated 2/5
I DO like marmite, but I DO NOT like this deck. Ultimately, it all comes down to the fact that the deck mixes fantasy art techniques with realism/photography around the face. This works for some people, which is why they feel the eyes of the figures are "really looking out" at them. Sadly, for me it just felt like a bad Photoshop project, with some figures seeming very "head-in-hole". It disrupted the flow of the deck, and the unity of each card, because I felt too aware of each image being assembled in a slightly artificial way.

On the plus side, the deck comes with it own bag, which is a nice touch, and the book was good enough for starters. If you're new to tarot, you'll find you'll build up your own collection of books far beyond the book that came with your first deck, so there's no need for a deck companion book to be "definitive".

The number of rave reviews show that this deck is LOVED by many people, but there are others, like me, who will get it in the post and be disappointed - mine is languishing in storage until I can find someone who might want it. If you're a first timer, a Rider-Waite might be a better bet. Or else, try to get to a shop which holds this deck so you can check out the cards in person to see if you "get" their aesthetic. That way you can avoid making a relatively expensive mistake like I did. Good luck!

Beautiful set - Rated 5/5
Absolutely gorgeous set of cards. The accompanying book could've done with a more detailed description of the card and was no description of reversals in the description of the cards. Yes I know you're supposed to read what you feel but I like to get a grasp of the general meaning initially and take it from there lol. Otherwise an absolutely lovely piece of kit.

Stunning Deck, and reasonable book - Rated 4/5
This was my first Tarot set, and I was soo pleased that I chose this one. The pictures on the cards are amasingly beautiful, I just sat there looking at them for a good 15 minutes.

The book that came with the deck was pretty reliable, but it didn't go into any extreme detail about what the cards ment. For each card there was a paragraph explaining what was shown and other cards it relates to, a paragraph explaining one or two of the cards meanings and how to act, and a warning paragraph telling you what not to do. There wasn't much depth to any of the explinations. There was nothing about reversed cards and the book only offered 5 spreads.

However, I would say that the book was reliable if this is your first Tarot set. It gives you a really general understanding of how Tarot works.
