A bit too much going on - Rated I can't say I hated or loved this book, for me it was just ok. I think the main problem was that there were too many themes running riot and clashing off each other. You had the equivalent of the search for the holy grail, the apocalyptic extinction level virus wiping out mankind, genetics gone mad and the second coming of Christ. Add all that with a few backstabbing moments and a bit of a love story and you've got a whole lot going on. It's all just a bit too much and I felt that no one theme hit the mix spot on. Don't get me wrong this book wasn't all bad I just felt that some stories stopped dead with no explanation. The ending was particularly poor and I too felt like the author ran out of ideas and just finished up early for the day. Where's the rest of the book? - Rated Found this book a fairly enjoyable light read, but felt that it ended really badly. Well actually, came to the end of the book and thought that there was a chapter missing or something. Did Jeff Long get bored writing this book near the end? While Long is no Evelyn Waugh, he's got an easy, readable style that bears favourable comparison with the turgid prose of Dan Brown or Michael Chrichton. And in terms of plot and pacing he's something of a cross between those last two writers. You might question some of his characters' motivations and find the dialogue a bit clunky, but it's not a book you put down easily. More than zero - Rated 3/5
This is a bit better than your average blockbuster. While Long is no Evelyn Waugh, he's got an easy, readable style that bears favourable comparison with the turgid prose of Dan Brown or Michael Chrichton. This is a well written book and I connected with the lead male "Nathan" and the female lead "Miranda" almost immediately. Jeff Longs descriptive writing is excellent and I found that I could not put the book down for long periods. The plot is believable and gripping (although far fetched from a technology point of view).

The simplicity of Nathan's ideal and motivation is immense and totally believable as having only one thing left in the World what would you hold dear?

I enjoyed this book immensely and if you are considering by anything by Dan Brown STOP and buy this book first.
