Yet again a weird ending! - Rated 4/5
This is the third book of the series that started with "The Hunger", of which I strongly recommend you read both that and the second book "The Last Vampire" before tackling this book....otherwise some of the concepts and characters will appear very confusing.

The book jumps on 17 years from book 2, and we are to discover that Leo Patterson ("blooded" by Miriam Blaylock) is a famous singer now. Also for the last 17 years Paul Ward has been caring for his son and that his son has no idea of what blood really flows in his veins.

Meanwhile in the desert of Egypt, Lilith, mother of demons has awakened after a century or more of sleep, to find the world a vastly changed place. She has a confusing background which never gets that much clearer.

To cut a long synopsis short, all three, Lilith, Leo and Ian(Paul's son) are drawn together by their blood, and the book turns into a battle(mental and physical) where Paul has to try and get his son back before he can be turned by Lilith into a true vampire.

This third book is fast paced like the other two, with action and a few surprises along the way, and also some funny parts. However the book leaves the reader with the word "oh" in their mind when you reach the end. From such a fast paced story and involved characters, the ending is a bit of an anti-climax and still leaves far too many questions unanswered from the whole series. The main character from the two previous books, Miriam Blaylock, is kind of written out of the story a bit too quietly as well.

It is still an enjoyable book but I almost felt a bit short-changed with the ending. It's a good addition to the vampire genre, but perhaps doesn't have the depth really required when introducing a complex character like Lilith, who after all is the supposed "mother" of all the vampires.
