Excellent way to bring history to life - Rated I made this viking village settlement with my two children aged 6 and 8. My six year old hasn't yet taken an interest in history although he studies it at school. I bought it with my older daughter in mind. Making this settlemnt has sparked a huge interest in my son though. They have both loved making it (and they aren't unusally skilled). We began with the simplest models and if you show them how to follow the instructions and make sure they score the folding edges with a pen that has run out of ink and a ruler they will get very pleasing results. I also recommend you do get the UHU all-purpose glue - essential. If you are prepared to supervise your children then once you have set them on their way you wil also be able to enjoy making a house or two. Dad couldn't resist making a few too! Make A Viking Village (For big kids too) - Rated I bought this book to use with my class of year 4 children as an introduction to Viking life. My idea was to let them put it together, but having had a look at the instructions, if you want to be precise, it'd need a lot of adult supervision. So far, I've made six of the buildings, and it's taken me all afternoon. The results are going to be great, and I've really enjoyed making this, but patience is definitely a necessary virtue. Great fun - for "old children" - Rated I have been spending hours with this (our first) interesting kit from Usborne. It takes a lot of patience to do it properly, which is just a challenge. When I say old children I mean, I have had more out of it than my son (age 8). I think the book is best suited for children from 12 years to 75.
