better ones out there - Rated
It's not bad but I think first word books work better with photographs rather than these cartoon pics. The body parts are just not very distinguishable. The nose, for example, is barely there.
Also given it's American, there's a very yellow taxi which is irrelevant to us Brits and I'm not keen on the page of junk food - burger, pizza, chocolate.
My 16 month old son seems to like it but there's much better books out there for first word association.
great for developing communication, and baby's favourite! - Rated
My son (now 15 months) loves this book. Whenever he sees it, he picks it up to be 'read' to him. At first, we used to go through the pages and I would point to items and say the word. Now he points and I say the word. The same happened with my daughter (now 3) when she was the same age. The next stage was me naming and her pointing to the correct item, then me pointing and her naming the item.
The thing I like most about these books over others is that there's not too many items on a page (6 to 9) and they are distinct items with spaces between, which makes it clear to you (or baby) which is being pointed to - very important in the early stages of communication. I'm sure this book made a significant contribution to my daughter's communication development. Oh, and they both love it!
a must for every toddler's book collection! - Rated
superb book! excellent presentation and content....this is my son's (2) favourite book. he spends ages on the transport section....points to train and tractor endlessly! the format allow easy recognition of familiar objects and re enforces new ones as he develops. very impressed indeed.
