Customer Reviews

Still original - Rated 3/5

This book follows on from Malcolm Pryce's previous book 'Abersytwyth Mon Amour' and takes place three yeas after the flood which destroyed much of Aberystwyth life. Things have changed, but perhaps not too much. The Mafia style rulling by the druids has gone, but only to be replaced by that of Meals on Wheels. Again someone has gone missing, Dean Morgan a Professor at the Faculty of Undertaking. Again Louie Knight is asked to investiage and follows the trail passed spinning wheel shops, toffee apple dens and circus clowns and ventriloquists.

This is still as original as Malcolm Pryce's first book with some great ideas, I loved the idea of a spinning wheel with Shimano gear changes. However I still prefer Jasper Fforde whose books I've laughed out loud at.

Last tango last's a life time - Rated 4/5
This book is an intriguing read being neither fully crime nor comedy. It delves through the seedy underbelly of the infamous welsh coastal resort from the rock dealers to chinese that sells borth.
This book thrills me everytime i time ive read it loosing non of the mystery.

moving on - Rated 5/5
Return visit to the little town of Aber thingy. Moving on from the 1st book, and story/characters building well. If you like the first - more of the same enjoyable reading

Just not that funny - Rated 1/5
Just managed to finish this book. Its not that funny, its the same single joke as "Mon Amour" and if you don't like books where bad things happen to cats, then give this a wide berth.

Retread - Rated 3/5
A bit of a retread - if you enjoyed the first book (Aberystwyth Mon Amour) then you should enjoyed this one. However, there is very little new to enjoy.

A few words of warning: do not read this if you have not read Aberystwyth Mon Amour; you will find it incomprehensible.

Further words of warning: I grew up in Aberystwyth and one of the joys of these books (for me) is the use of lots of local places and landmarks usually with quite complicated Welsh names. There is a lot of this in these books; some may find this off putting.

Nice cover though.
