A good source - Rated This has been useful over the past year (PGDE(P), however the style does require some initial understanding of education theory and perserverance. Very poor - don't waste your money - Rated This book is awful. I hardly found anything useful in it (it is also surprisingly thin). There are loads of better PGCE textbooks available. Essential book for essential teaching skills - Rated .... I have found this book invaluable, both for new and trainee teachers in clearly outlining essential aspects of classroom practice, and for experienced teachers as a reminder of those essential aspects in an engaging and refreshing way. Essential Teaching Skills, Chris Kyriacou - Rated I cannot deny this book contains some useful information for those about to teach in secondary school, but the style of writing makes it a crashingly dull read. It's also rather expensive compared to some other texts and I feel it would be better to invest in a good 'all rounder' such as Learning to Teach in the Secondary School, Susan Capel et al. A must have for all student teachers. - Rated Of all the books I have bought throughout my teacher training, this is the one I continue to return to. It has plain speaking advice and suggestions for all of the most fundemental teaching practices.
