Room at the Inn is subtitled Eat, Drink & Sleep at England's Plushest Pubs, and the chances are that just the briefest dip into David Hancock's very useful book will have you planning to take an odyssey around Britain, sampling the highly tempting venues detailed here. If you have a taste for top-of-the-range cuisine and the best wine lists (or even a taste for real ale) followed by a night in a boutique-style bedroom with striking ensuite bathroom -- in one of Britain's many interesting cities -- then this is the guide to take with you. If your view of pub cuisine and accommodation remains fairly basic, you haven't been getting out much lately: things have changed, and radically at that. Gone are the days of flat beer and a greasy pie, and every one of the 80 striking (or quirky) entries listed here offers cuisine that rivals the very best restaurants. Along with the requisite eating and drinking suggestions, atmosphere is considered here along with all the other elements. And if you're not seduced by some of the striking photography of the various inns here, you are clearly someone it takes a great deal to impress. looks good, but a little suspicious - Rated

This is a well presented book and reads pretty well. I've been to a few places featured and they're good. However I used it recently to visit a place in Cornwall - The Driftwood Spars which looked terrible and we cancelled our booking as a result. So I'm suspicious what the criteria for entry into this book actually is. Approach with caution.
