Customer Reviews

Peter Swan - Rated 5/5
This is an excellent book, and really does "set the record straight". Peter Swan made one mistake and received a punishment that was totally out of proportion. This book is an honest and frank account of his life, and clearly demonstrates how the life of a footballer has changed dramatically since the 1960s. How many of today's breed would contemplate a day down the pit before travelling by public transport for training?
Peter Swan comes out of the book with plenty of credit, and leaves the reader wondering just what he might have achieved in football but for his one moment of naivety.

A Footballer's Book, a Book for any one who appreciates a good ,honest story - Rated 5/5
I have supported Sheffield Wednesday for over 50 years!
I idolised Peter Swan and the Wednesday and England teams he played in. The football characters of their time were far more plausible than their modern-day counterparts.
This book is so honest and reveals what is surely a true and remarkable story of the man who lost his freedom, his place in football's "Greats" and cost him much more than money!
This excellent account of a truly talented footballer's rise and fall and later emergence following the lifting of his ban will open the reader's eyes and touch their heart.
Congratulations must go to Nick Johnson, the Author, whose skill and craft was not wasted on one of the "heartless" modern-day, less worthy players but does this great story of a great player full justice.
