Customer Reviews

Awesome!! - Rated 5/5
I swear this is one of the best books I have ever read!
Although I didn't enjoy the religious aspect to it, it does fit with the storyline.
Could not put this book down- was an unexpected enjoyment as Erica James' other books haven't been what I'd call amazing!
This book has everything from romance, thrill, mystery and a little comedy. Definitely recommend it!

Oh no she wouldn't do that! - Rated 2/5
The second half of this novel is much inferior to the first half, and the first half is just OK. The whole plot hangs on a decision made by the heroine; unfortunately at this dramatic point the reader just thinks, 'she wouldn't do that!' Worse, the difficulties inherent in such a decision are skimmed over with breathtaking speed. Perhaps the author thought that moving the story along quickly meant the reader wouldn't notice that the novel had descended into lazily written nonsense.

Long lost lovers reunited and religion too! - Rated 5/5
Whilst Tell it to the Skies shares the theme of long lost lovers with Erica James' Paradise House, the childhood of the heroine is darker and bleaker. Personal experience might bias my judgement on the long lost lover bit - it does happen in real life too! And not just to me! This story does cover some interesting ground with the emphasis on fundamentalist sects and aggression - something we in this society don't always want to accept happens close to home. My only gripe, is that like Love & Devotion, I wasn't convinced that all the tragedies were necessary - you'll have to read what happens in the final third to Noah to see what I mean. That sub-plot could have been left out without the story suffering and it would have given further scope to develop the wrapping up of the big mystery a little more deftly. It is still an excellent read.

Very disappointing - Rated 1/5
I have read and enjoyed Erica James previous books but this one is a disaster. I suppose it aims to cash in on the current trend for "my abused childhood" autobiographies but Erica James just doesn't have the depth of insight or the writing style to do this successfully. It is unconvincing with wooden characters and as a previous review says the last third is like a Mills and Boon.
Based on this I will look very carefully at any of this author's novels in future before I buy them.

Great new Erica James novel - Rated 5/5
I loved this book. Yes, it is very different from all Erica James' previous novels, but the change is a good one. It is a less light-hearted, but that makes for an interesting and well-written story. The main character is instantly likeable and the story is gripping. I read it in a couple of days because I couldn't put it down. I have loved all Erica James' novels, but for me, this one is the best to date (certainly not putting the others down) and I am almost ready to re-read it. I highly recommend it for both those who have tried Erica James before and those who have not.
