Enjoyable but too light on herbs and detail. - Rated
I purchased this book having tried in vain to keep a number of herbs alive and needing a great deal of assistance. I was hoping that the book would contain some good detail on soil conditions and watering frequency but unfortunately, only soil conditions seem to be covered in any great detail.

There are also less than 20 herbs discussed over the 63 pages (Admittedly picture packed) meaning that there are more complete herb books on the market. On the plus side, this book is well written, and gives good detail for those looking to grow herbs in the garden. There are also useful tips on freezing / storing the herbs, which should prove handy for readers looking to use their herbs for cookery.

At the same time as purchasing "Growing Herbs" I also purchased "Jekka's Complete Herb Book" (ISBN: 1-85626-349-5) which is 251 pages long and contains far more detail (and herbs) than "Growing Herbs". I would recommend this book instead if you are looking for a much more complete reference guide to herb growing.
